KYIV, UKRAINE 🇺🇦 Elon Musk has accused Ukraine’s military of violating Starlink’s terms of service by using the satellite internet system for offensive drøne strikes. Ukrainian officials strongly dispute his claim. On October 24, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announced that Starlink and Starshield connection speeds had recovered, with stable connections reported at speeds exceeding 400 km/h. Musk said Ukraine’s forces had “violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people.” He added, “That loophole was closed last week.” However, Ukrainian officials rejected his account. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s adviser Serhiy Beskrestnov said technical restrictions made it impossible to use commercial Starlink for the type of long-range strikes Musk described. Former Defense Ministry adviser Serhiy Sternenko also denied the accusation, saying, “As someone who was involved in the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say with certainty that this is not true,” The dispute follows more than a week of connectivity restrictions that Ukrainian officials said disrupted military communications and drøne operations. US President Donald Trump reportedly urged Musk to restore access. However, responsibility for the restrictions had been disputed by US officials and Musk. Starlink is a commercial satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, while Starshield is a separate system designed for government and military use. Although Ukraine says connectivity has recovered, the dispute over how the systems were used and who controlled the restrictions continues. What do you think? Should private technology companies have the power to restrict satellite services used during wartime? Las Vegas, Nevada, United States 🇺🇸 — Clark County has launched a new campaign warning tourists that tipping street performers or paying for character photos is not mandatory. Digital billboards along the Las Vegas Strip began displaying the message on October 16, following complaints about aggressive money demands from costumed performers. The signs read: "When watching performances or taking a photo, tipping is NOT required." Officials say the campaign targets pressure and harassment, not voluntary tipping. Visitors who feel threatened are also advised to seek help from police. The initiative follows a September 30 incident outside Planet Hollywood involving two tourists from North Carolina and women dressed as showgirls. According to a police report, the tourists paid $20 for photos. Performer Jennifer Ortiz allegedly followed them and demanded an additional $60 to $180. A confrontation followed, leaving both visitors injured. Ortiz and Magdellena Romero were arrested. Ortiz faces battery and obtaining money under false pretenses charges, while Romero faces a battery charge. The allegations have not been established as convictions. Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft told FOX5: "It negatively impacts the economic lifeblood of not just Clark County but the entire state tax base is dependent on the Las Vegas Strip." The campaign aims to protect visitors and support the city's tourism industry. Officials stress that tourists can choose whether to tip. Travel tip: Before posing for photos with street performers, ask about any expected fee. Never feel pressured to pay money you did not agree to.
