بعد عام او اثنين تصبح ارض جرداء لاتنبت شيء .البطاطا تستهلك كل مكونات التربة الفقيرة اصلا من المعادن والاملاح المفيدة لاي نبات . ارض رعوية من الافضل تبقى رعوية بغطاءها النباتي الطبيعي مثل الحلفة .الشيح .السناق .السدرة......هذه الزراعة تستنزف المياه الجوفية والتربة وتدمر الغطاء النباتي الطبيعي الى الابد .
