@phephy00: The Defense Health Agency has confirmed new TRICARE Young Adult premiums, and some military families could pay more than $10,000 a year just for their adult child’s health insurance! 💰 HERE’S WHAT’S CHANGING JANUARY 1, 2027! 🏥 TRICARE Young Adult Prime 2026: $794 per month 2027: $893 per month That’s $10,716 annually — an increase of $1,188! 🏥 TRICARE Young Adult Select 2026: $363 per month 2027: $394 per month That’s $4,728 annually an increase of $372! 🇺🇸 WHO IS AFFECTED? Eligible unmarried military dependents younger than 26 who have aged out of regular TRICARE coverage. This includes qualifying children of active-duty personnel and military retirees. 🚨 HERE’S WHAT MAKES THIS CONTROVERSIAL! Unlike regular dependent TRICARE coverage, Young Adult premiums are designed to cover the full cost of the program. Military family advocates are questioning why Prime premiums have increased so dramatically! 📋 WHAT SHOULD FAMILIES DO? 1️⃣ Compare TRICARE Young Adult Prime and Select. 2️⃣ Check employer-sponsored health insurance. 3️⃣ Compare Marketplace insurance options. 4️⃣ Calculate premiums, deductibles, and copayments before switching. ⚠️ Don’t cancel existing coverage without checking reenrollment restrictions and potential coverage gaps. 🔥 SHOULD MILITARY DEPENDENTS BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN ON THEIR PARENTS’ REGULAR TRICARE PLAN UNTIL AGE 26? 👇 What do you think? #AirForce #Army #Navy #Marines #SpaceForce

Unpopular opinion - Tricare should cover unmarried adult children who are in school until 26.

Smh, so about every “incentive” to join the military is now slipping away. Great.

absolutely yes….health care is NOT a one size fits all for every family. For some families, this IS THE most affordable option. Additionally dependents with chronic illness/diseases sometimes…they find them selves in a penurious situation when it comes to continuity of care, not being considered for certain options due to pre existing conditions (some insurance companies don’t cover all of the ACTUAL needs if the patient) and high utilization costs….there is so much to be said. Under TriCare Young Adult it eases some of the burden.
