As someone said, I believe your family will always be your competition regardless of if they say/show or not. If your partner sees you as a competition, then he's not the right one. And I hope you don't feel you're behind if your partner becomes more successful than you. We're all built differently. As a guy, I can understand their feelings but if it doesn't bother her, it shouldn't bother the guy. She chose him knowing that. If he feels "threatened" by her success, the guy is only degrading her value, preventing her from growing.
