Unfortunately, a lot of people in their 30’s and 40’s feel like failures. But we’re living in a world where working is about survival rather than success. When we were kids, we watched the adults around us focus on their dreams. But a lot of us are not given that luxury anymore. You’re not alone in feeling this way, but trust me when I say you’re definitely not a failure. There are a lot of people who don’t have nearly as much as you do. My best friend was homeless, living off of couches and working a really shitty job. Randomly by chance he was asked to help out a family member with their pool business. He just turned 44 and that same family member just decided to give the business to him. He’s 44 and he finally feels like he’s going to be okay.

You’ve been married twice, you’ve had multiple sustained careers, you’ve owned a home. I’m 26, and I’ve spent the past few years wondering if I’ll ever get to experience those things. I’m not saying this to tell you that you’ve got it made or your problems aren’t valid. I’m just telling you that you are objectively not a failure man. You also acknowledged than many of these circumstances are out of your control. It’s not fair to yourself to call yourself a failure for things that are not your fault. I’m 47 and since 2008 it’s been one hardship after another. Keep pushing. I feel very much the same way a lot of the time. You never fail until you give up.

55 year old here brother. At 40 I had a worn out truck, bedroom suite and tv to my name. Now I have house car and truck and lots of toys. Brother I get it but laying down and giving up is not an option. Get up and get it done. Keep pushing. Keep trying. You can turn it around. Can’t live in past regardless of how bad it was. You can do it if I can. Prayers brother.
