bock haben kinda makes sense, similar to "i have a horse in this race" you're invested in something so of course you want to do it

Most Germans are not even aware of the origin of the term "Bock" it actually comes from Romani, the language spoken by the Sinti and Roma people. "Bock" means "hunger" for example, the phrase "man hi bock ab i Pizza" translates to "I am hungry for a pizza." Over time, however, the term began to be used in many different contexts, and for German speakers, it no longer refers to hunger, but rather to being in the mood for something. So it actually does make sense and doesn't mean goat

small correction: a "Bock" is actually the term for a male goat, sheep or deer (and probably some others), a Ziegenbock (so a goat Bock) is just the most common one people refer to, the same way "bull" is used to describe male cows, elephants, hippos but the first thing you picture is a cattle bull. Also "krass" started out as an adjectiv to describe the severity of something before it became slang (the same way people started to utilise "geil" for other stuff than it's original purpose).

something I noticed whilst in Germany is that bock can also kind of be used as a verb? like you don't always have to say "bock haben", I've also heard ppl say "das bockt" when they're having fun doing smth

Kopfkino is more an expression related to your imagination when xyz is happening you get a Kopfkino. a smell could be an example for that. you smell something and your brain gives you a story to it. can be related to what ever a crush a smell or a sound. goes also for not pleasant expirences.

I‘m not sure „Bock“ translates to goat in this case. Gemini claims it refers to an old version of the word „Hunger“

"Bock haben" It has nothing to do with the goat. It comes from Rotwelsch, a German dialect spoken by Gypsies and crooks.
It's from the Romani word bokh (or bokhajlem) meaning “to have become hungry”. In the past, someone who was “hungry for something” had a craving for it. Over time, this evolved into the general meaning of “desire” or “interest” in something.
