@mothershipsg: The government has revised its plans for Maju Forest and Gillman Barracks and will conserve about 6 additional hectares of greenery across both sites. Part of the retained spaces at Maju Forest will also be made into a new nature park, said Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan at an Oct. 28 media doorstop. Based on the revised plans, HDB plans to build around 11,000 new homes at both locations over the next decade: 4,000 at Maju Forest and 7,000 at Gillman Barracks. This marks a reduction of around 400 homes at Maju Forest, and 800 homes at Gillman Barracks. That said, the government will build higher where possible to mitigate the effects of the reduced redevelopment area and provide more homes for Singaporeans, Tan said. Earlier, following an influx of public feedback regarding the initial redevelopment plans, Tan had said that the government would retain more greenery but that Singaporeans would have to accept fewer homes on both sites. #mothershipnews
