Layoffs go for the new people to intentionally cut down to keep the older upper wage people. If they have one making 100k they will layoff the quantity of new people to equal that 100k if it’s still not enough that’s when they dip in to longer term upper wage people. I’ve been through both ends

False first in first out is def a thing. I’ve seen it especially when companies merge. But so is getting laid off if you make more

Not always valid, depends where the new hires come in at. If it’s a good company, they will take internal equity into consideration, some orgs don’t…

Not to be a hater but "first in, first out" actually does mean that the first person in (aka the person who has been there the longest) is the first person that is out. Just thought I'd throw it out there. Keep up posting and sharing what you know. Just didn't want ya to put your foot in your mouth if you talk to anyone in accounting. 👊😎👍

Depends. Every union job I’ve ever held laid off bottom up seniority.

My worry would be loosing tenure as an employee. Severance is usually based upon years worked. Move to a new job, get laid off with no backup

No, it's because we will have to rebuild our network, relationships, etc.

I thought the longer you stay in a job the lower you’re likely paid vs switching jobs you have a higher salary?
