Think about how much you’ve done to keep other people in your life. The chances you’ve given. The disrespect you’ve rationalized. The boundaries you’ve abandoned because you were afraid of losing someone. Now ask yourself something uncomfortable… Why have you been willing to work so hard to keep other people in your life, but struggle to do the work required to build a life you actually love living? Three hard truths: 1. Self-love isn’t just telling yourself you’re worthy. It’s making decisions that reflect that worth, even when those decisions disappoint people. 2. You cannot build genuine self-respect while repeatedly abandoning your own needs to earn someone else’s approval. 3. Choosing yourself will sometimes feel selfish when you’ve spent your entire life believing that being needed is what makes you valuable. Read that last one again. You don’t have to become less loving. You have to stop believing that love requires you to come last. Stop waiting for someone to recognize your worth before you start treating yourself like you matter. Stop measuring your value by who stays, who leaves, who chooses you, or who regrets losing you. And stop making promises to yourself that you keep breaking just to keep someone else happy. Because every time you silence your needs to avoid rejection, you reinforce the belief that your relationship with yourself is the one that can be sacrificed. Here’s the question I want you to sit with: If you treated yourself the way you keep hoping someone else will treat you, what would you change about your life today? Maybe you’d set the boundary. Maybe you’d stop chasing. Maybe you’d finally give yourself permission to rest, heal, or walk away. Whatever your answer is, start there. Self-love isn’t believing you’ll never need anyone. It’s knowing that even when someone disappoints you, you won’t abandon yourself to make them stay. You deserve to become someone you can count on, too. If you’re ready to start your healing journey, click the link in my bio. I have free resources available to help you begin doing the deeper work within yourself. And if you need more personalized support, I also offer one-on-one calls as a certified life, health, and relationship coach. This page is dedicated to helping people navigate heartbreak, attachment wounds, emotional pain, self-awareness, and deep reflection through brutal honesty, psychology, faith, and inward healing. Follow me for a deeper look within yourself where hard truths meet self-awareness, healing replaces self-abandonment, and understanding yourself becomes the key to unlocking the life God intended for you. #loveyou #SelfImprovement #healing #heartbroken #chriscarrillo
