"DOES NOT GOING TO CHURCH MEAN YOU ARE SINNING AGAINST GOD? Have you ever been told: “Not going to church is sinning against God”? So when you miss church because you are sick, you feel afraid. When you miss because you are too tired from work, you feel guilty. Some people even feel like they are carrying a heavy burden just because they missed one gathering. But I want to gently tell you this: Many times, that fear is not from God. Let’s see what the Bible says. FIRST, GOD DOES NOT LIVE IN BUILDINGS. Acts 17:24 says: “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.” God is not only in church buildings. He is also in your home, in your car, and in your tears at midnight when you are alone. Of course, you can draw near to God in church, but when you are cooking, on your way to work, or praying quietly, He still hears you. God does not only look at where you sit. He cares more about whether your heart is turned toward Him. SECOND, TRUE WORSHIP IS NOT LIMITED BY LOCATION. In John 4, Jesus said: “True worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” John 4:21–24: “...the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father... But the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” Listen carefully— Jesus’ key point is this: not this mountain, not Jerusalem, not a fixed location. True worship is about genuinely coming before God. Some people sit in church every week, but their hearts are far from God. Others pray alone in their rooms, and God truly touches them. THIRD, GATHERING IS IMPORTANT, BUT IT IS NOT LIMITED TO SITTING IN A BUILDING. Hebrews 10:25 says: “Do not give up meeting together.” Gathering is very important, but it is not necessarily limited to “that building.” You can gather with two or three people at home, or online with others who love God— Jesus said: “Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” What God wants is your relationship with Him, not your weekly attendance in a building. The key is not the building—it is whether you are drawing closer to God. So please understand this clearly: Not going to church does not mean God has abandoned you. The real danger is not missing a Sunday service. The real danger is when your heart slowly stops seeking God. Church is important. Fellowship is important. Spiritual family is important. But do not turn “relationship” into “religious pressure.” What God truly wants is never your attendance record. He wants you to truly love Him, depend on Him, and draw near to Him.
