It was transplanted into Arthur "Tom" Thomas, a man who had been suffering from severe heart failure and desperately needed a transplant to survive. For the next decade, Jeni's family and Tom stayed in touch through letters and phone calls. Then came August 2016. As Jeni prepared to marry the love of her life, she had one special request. She reached out to Tom and asked him something incredibly meaningful: Would he walk her down the aisle? He said yes. On her wedding day, Tom traveled from New Jersey to Pennsylvania to escort Jeni to her future husband. Before the ceremony, he even let her feel his heartbeat — the very heart that once belonged to her father. As he walked her down the aisle, Jeni knew that in a way, her father was part of that unforgettable moment. Tom also shared a father-daughter dance with her during the wedding. A man who had been given a second chance at life was now helping a daughter honor the father she had lost.
