Over the past few months, so many local young people in NI have been diagnosed with cancer and have faced, or are facing amputations. It is becoming so common. Since my own diagnosis & amputation so many years ago now, I’ve always tried my best to help every single person that’s wanted my help. Whether that’s meeting them & their families to offer support, answering any questions or customising their new prosthetics to help them adjust to life with a disability. I’ve done all of this in private all these years, and I have realised I need to start documenting doing some of these things, to reach other children that I might miss otherwise, but also to answer the questions any young person has as their face their surgery, life after cancer & life with a prosthetic leg. I want them to be able to come to my page & find any answers they need, because not all are comfortable to reach out. I’m saying all of this because I want to give a heads up to expect a lot more posts about my cancer experience, life with a disability, fashion & sports with a prosthetic leg, especially as a mum, content creator, business owner, but also tips as an amputee (which I’ve kinda already started as my Bionic Basics series). I know some people unfollow when they see content they don’t resonate with, (I lost at least 20k when I announced my pregnancy) - but I will be posting all of this regardless. Appreciate any of you that support it all & help me push the information out for any young person that might need it. When I got diagnosed, I found out alone. I didn’t know much about cancer. I didn’t know anyone with my type of cancer. I didn’t know any amputees. I didn’t know anyone then, with my level of amputation which was rare in itself. I didn’t have someone to answer my questions, but I am a big sister and I will be a big sister to anyone who needs me to be. 💛 #cancersurvivor #limblossawareness #limblossawarenessmonth #limbdifferenceawarenessmonth
