Former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) boss, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has recounted a frightening experience he encountered aboard a PassionAir flight from Kumasi to Accra, which also had Kumawood actor Lil Win and Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene on board. Speaking in an interview with Lawson TV, Dr Kokofu described the incident as the most terrifying flight experience he had ever encountered, revealing that the aircraft made unusual movements in the air, leaving passengers screaming and fearing for their lives. “It was a harrowing experience. We all gave up,” he recalled, adding that the aircraft appeared to have struck something while airborne. Lil Win, who also spoke on the programme via phone, disclosed that heavy rainfall had started before the aircraft took off, but the pilot proceeded with the journey. He explained that shortly after takeoff, the plane began making sudden upward and downward movements, causing panic among passengers. “We were all shouting, including the Ashanti Regional Minister and others, but I kept calming them down and telling them everything would be okay,” Lil Win recounted. The aircraft eventually stabilised and continued its journey safely to Accra. Dr Kokofu further disclosed that the flight had been delayed for approximately 30 to 40 minutes before departure. He also revealed that he had written to the relevant aviation authorities requesting a thorough investigation into the incident. Despite the frightening experience, he commended the pilot for managing the situation and ensuring that the aircraft landed safely in Accra.
