@mahya.tbk: 🤔 Did anyone else notice the handwritten notes or what appeared to be flight instructions in the cockpit video involving 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras and the Learjet 60 crash in Florida? Are these standard navigation notes or checklists pilots normally use during a flight? ✈️ I’d love to hear from aviation professionals. #NathaliaFilgueiras #Learjet60 #PalmBeachPlaneCrash #AviationQuestions #FlightSafety
I always have a notepad and pen ready in the cockpit. What are you implying here?

Totally normal with the amount of information they need.

That’s normal in any aircraft. It’s used to copy instructions from ATC among other things.

Writing control frequency, route navigation points, instructions from ATC is normal. Required even. It’s literally why there is a fucking clipboard built into the yoke.

just about every pilot who flies in or out of a busy airport will have a method of writing down instructions. You have no idea the info you get in a very fast amount of time. Then have to read it back to them perfectly.

Yes it’s very common for us to take notes. We typically write down our ATIS info as well as the read back from ATC on our flight plans. As they don’t always give us the route we requested and filed. Some of us even write down all of our frequencies for communications with ground, tower, departure, and center. Preparing and staying ahead of the aircraft is 90% of flying. Being unprepared puts you into a situation where you could forget critical items

Not uncommon. Weather alerts and ATC frequencies, bail out runway locations along routes with gps coordinates

Completely normal- when ATC gives instructions such as frequencies, headings, altitude, and other information…you write it down and you read back to ATC to confirm you understand their instructions to avoid miscommunication. The co pilot usually handles the comms while the PIC flies the aircraft. Unless you are flying solo, then you are doing it all yourself.

Plenty of pilots use note pads. Stop trying to draw correlations and blame a tragedy on a young lady who showed professionalism and grit into her final moments.
