Harland Sanders was around 40 when he began feeding travelers out of a service station dining room in Corbin, Kentucky. He was past 60 before he sold his first franchise. His nephew, Lee Cummings, took the family knack to Lima, Ohio and built Lee's Famous Recipe. George W. Church Sr. opened his San Antonio counter directly across from the Alamo with no dining room at all. Chicken to go, walk up window, that was the entire concept. 🏛️ Truett Cathy put his stand inside an Atlanta shopping mall in 1967, betting that shoppers wanted a real meal instead of a snack, and locked the doors every Sunday from day one. Jim Disbrow, a competitive figure skating judge, simply could not find Buffalo style wings anywhere in Ohio, so he opened a place near the Ohio State campus and made them himself. 🏈 Todd Graves wrote a business plan for a chicken finger restaurant, got one of the lowest grades in his class, and heard no from every bank he visited. He worked as a boilermaker, then fished for salmon in Alaska, came home to Baton Rouge with the cash, and named the place after his dog. 🐾 Four friends pooled about nine hundred dollars for a parking lot pop up in East Hollywood in 2017.
