She spent her working life dragging nets for shrimp along the Gulf Coast, and now she is being turned into an explorer yacht. This is Jezebelle, an 84-foot steel trawler built in 1977 by Master Marine, a yard with deep roots in Gulf Coast commercial shipbuilding. She started out as a refrigerated shrimp trawler called Master John. She has a 22-foot beam, a 7.6-foot draft and 121 tonnes of steel, so she was built for hard work in every kind of sea. Her single 500hp Cummins KTA-19 M dates from 2014, and her listing quoted an 8-knot cruise and around 12 knots flat out. She carries 12,000 US gallons of fuel and 3,000 gallons of fresh water, which is a serious amount of range for a long-distance trawler yacht. Her conversion is well under way. She already has a bow thruster, a hydraulic windlass, air conditioning, an inverter and a generator, and her bow cabin was reported to be around 85% complete. Her old fish hold, where the catch used to be kept on ice, will become most of her accommodation, and right now it is an open steel shell waiting for its next chapter. She has since found a new owner, and she is a great example of how a working boat can become a liveaboard explorer yacht. My full write-up is in my free explorer yacht newsletter, including how far she could go on a full load of fuel. Link in my bio. Would you take on a conversion project like her? Tell me below. #boattok #yachttok #trawler #explorationyacht #boatconversion

Loads of you thought this was AI, but it isn't. This is me with the team from Safehaven Marine, sea trialling their T2000 Voyager in some pretty gnarly conditions. Safehaven Marine builds commercial pilot boats and military vessels on Ireland's south coast, and the T2000 Voyager is what happens when a yard like that turns its hand to a private motor yacht. She is a 21.4 metre, 40 tonne power catamaran with CE Category A, built with a GRP hull with a 30mm PVC core and a carbon fibre reinforced superstructure. Twin MAN V12-1550 diesels of 1,550hp each drive France Helices surface drives, and she will hit 52 knots flat out. A hydrofoil engages at around 22 to 23 knots and lifts the hull to reduce drag, so she can cruise at 30 knots for up to 1,000 nautical miles. She carries 10,000 litres of diesel and has a watermaker, three cabins, a separate crew space for two, inside and flybridge helms, and every internal door and hatch is watertight, just like a workboat. I served in the Royal Navy and volunteered with the RNLI, so not only do I love rough weather, I absolutely love the boats that are designed and built to survive it. My full T2000 Voyager feature is under New Builds on my website, along with more than 500 other boats I have featured. Link in my bio, and follow me for more boats like this. Would you take her out in conditions like these? #boattok #yachttok #safehavenmarine #catamaran #roughseas
