@qtb.vault: People use the word scalper as a cheap excuse whenever they do not like a price in this hobby. Let us get something straight right now. Scalpers do not set the price of a booster box or a pack. The actual supply and demand of the buyers dictates the numbers. If resellers could just make up a price tag whenever they wanted every single pack on the shelf would cost a thousand dollars. A sale only happens when a real collector steps up and decides to spend their own money. If buyers say no then that product sits on shelves and the price drops. Holding onto sealed boxes for a long time does not make you a scalper either. Scalpers flip stuff immediately on release weekend to make fast cash. Storing factory boxes in your closet for years just means you are a smart collector. #pokemoninvesting #pokemoncards #tcgplayer #sealedcollection #cardcollector

It’s a useful term. Scalper price is referring to the inorganic demand due to the artificial scarcity of scalpers… scalping. The market price wouldn’t organically be what it is if product wasn’t scalped.

What are you talking about? The market is literally set by the scalpers

Scalpers are the reason market price is unreasonably high. They drive big stores empty, then artificially set prices way above MSRP. If scalpers didn't exist, stocks would be plenty & people buy at MSRP. Horrible take & crazy to defend scalpers

market price is driven up by scalpers buying it out and then selling it higher. artificially inflating price is scalper price.

Scalpers for sealed product that is still in print. Anything not in print is market. Also certain raw product I understand market.

Literally just be patient, never buy above msrp, if buying off eBay, don’t be shy to demand refunds, returns, item not as described. Learn arts n crafts to make your favorite Pokémon’s. Be happy with what you got,

Scalpers also means they buy all at once but that’s slowing down because of all the policies but for some I feel bad for sealed collectors when the want it and the cut the seal

It’s why when a card show tried to ban sealed product, I think it should be no sealed product that is in print or hasn’t been out of print for a certain amount of time.

No, scalpers are everyone in line but them and who got something when they didn’t

Wrong. But for scalpers, buyers would find product on shelves and pay MSRP

The market price is the msrp that stores sell it at. The scalpers are the people who buy it all and re sell it to people who just want to enjoy a hobby at high prices
