i love dazai and i know he treated atsushi differently because he knew he failed akutagawa, but that doesn’t justify anything. he should’ve taken a gentler approach and been more supportive—not the opposite. although it’s sad, it does shape most of akutagawa’s character and character development in my eyes. what dazai did wasn’t by any means right, but it did push aku to be better and finally understand that he’s been worthy this whole time.
