have you ever watched the green valley/historical farm series? it's not just farming, they cover the day to day clothing worn by farmers and ruth Goodman mentioned a busk she saw in a collection that said something along the lines of "to my dear sister, don't break this one!"

since some busks are metal, would it be possible to freeze them before putting them into the corset so they have a cooling effect on the wearer? or is there too much fabric to have any impact?
