@kantrowitz: The "Saaspocalypse" relies on a flawed assumption about how enterprise actually works. Tony Bates runs Genesys—a company whose platform serves 7,500 of the world's largest multinational enterprises in regulated industries. When you operate at that scale, you see something the apocalypse narrative misses entirely: companies will not hand their IP to foundation models. The belief that AI will simply ingest all data and produce a "perfect working system" treats enterprise software like it's a personal assistant. It isn't. You need auditability, traceability, and trust. The winner won't be whoever writes the most flexible code. It'll be whoever builds the infrastructure that lets enterprises use AI without losing control of their data or their compliance system. He's correct... now! But when a major SaaS player sees a brand new player build with AI first... the legacy platforms will struggle. Open AI and Google Search...the first large case in point....

You can build a CRM system today with Claude. You don’t need 99% of the crap in Salesforce or SAP. Those engineers they are laying off are going to smaller companies and doing just this.

Conflating issues. 1. Agree frontier models are not the threats. 2. Enterprise Self-sovereign local models give you bespoke total control and security as good as frontier models for fraction of cost. That the threat.

Yep, no really. Run GrokbBot with build. It runs version control, auditing etc. You can describe the software and it will write it. It is not at enterprise level yet, but it will be soon. You need to use it to your advantage. Within 5 years it will all have changed.

He doesn't get it. It's not about adapting things to old models. It's about building a new structure that will outperform old ones.🦋🦋🦋
