@cid_ric :
we are too americanized in sports. the obsession in basketball is ove the top. that the country forgets there are other sports that we are good at. Some participating countries in FIFA are not that rich in gdp but can be part of the world cup. hopefully, one day, when the stars have aligned for us, we will all be there cheering for our players.

Factors: Big gap between elites and underprivileged. Basketball is very easy to construct in streets and barangay while football field is wide, made only for parks, stadiums, urbanized areas where business districts created. I myself dreamed to be a football player but it's not available in my place.

We need football because even though our national sport is "basketball" we are terrible internationalally anyway what's the point? Instead of focusing on basketball do other sports then we can win.

There is a distinct lack of government sponsorship and institutional support for various sports in the Philippines, as national attention remains heavily monopolized by basketball a sport where the country has yet to achieve a World Cup victory. This stands in sharp contrast to 2013, a period when Filipino football experienced a massive surge in public support. During this era, fans enthusiastically rallied behind the Philippine Azkals, particularly during high-profile exhibition matches against elite international teams like Chelsea and the LA Galaxy, featuring global icons like David Beckham. At the time, this momentum felt like a definitive turning point that would elevate football to a premier sport in the country. Unfortunately, that potential was never fully realized, and the lack of subsequent progress in Philippine football remains a significant missed opportunity.

We are so far from being a FIFA world cup team for the men's team but we are regularly in the FIBA WC these past few years. Malabo pa talaga kahit mag-allot ng malaking pera

Philippines has produced legendary football players who made major impacts on the global and Asian stage. In fact, pioneers like Paulino Alcántara and Manuel Amechazurra were among the very first Asian players to achieve greatness in European professional football

football is too expensive for Filipinos... it requires huge space to have a football court unlike basketball where they can build court in any barranggay

You’ve probably seen me make ‘the beans’ on our IG stories 100 times, we make them at least once a week! Here’s what you need: - 1 tablespoon olive oil - 2 shallots, thinly sliced - 2 leeks, cut into 1cm slices - 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped - 1 vegetable stock cube - 2 × 400g tins of butter beans - 4 large handfuls of spinach(about 200g), roughly chopped - 1 lemon, grated zest and juice - sea salt and black pepper For the sauce
- 100ml oat milk - 1⁄2 teaspoon brown rice miso paste - 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast large handful of baby spinach 1. Set a heavy-bottomed saucepan over a medium
heat and add the olive oil. Once the oil is warm, add the shallots, leeks and a pinch of salt. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they soften. Add the garlic and cook for a further 2 minutes, until it’s golden and fragrant. 2. Next, add the stock cube and butter beans, along with the liquid from each of the tins. Bring to the boil, then cover with a lid and simmer for 10 minutes, until thickened. 3. While the beans are cooking, make the sauce. Simply put the oat milk, miso, nutritional yeast and the baby spinach into a high-speed blender and blitz until perfectly smooth. 4. Once the beans are ready, pour in the sauce and add the spinach, stirring until it’s wilted. Stir in the lemon juice and season to taste with salt and pepper. Scatter over the lemon zest before serving. It’s the final recipe in Healthy Made Simple, under the name: creamy leek, spinach and butter bean bowls.
